Year 8 artists are currently producing work that aims to bring attention to the environmental issues caused by plastic pollution.

Students began by practising their tonal pencil crayon skills to create colourful bales of sea turtles, before using watercolour and collage to create their backgrounds.

Plastic waste was added to ‘pollute’ their illustrations and demonstrate the message: that by 2050 it is estimated that there will be more plastic in the sea than fish.

Students have learned a lot about the negative impact plastic waste has on the environment and have enjoyed creating art they hope can inspire people to make small changes to reduce pollution.
