Our Sixth Form was full of smiling faces this morning as students and staff celebrated a superb set of A level and Level 3 BTEC results.
Over 20% of all grades were A and above, and over 50% were grade B and above. The average points score achieved by students increased from last year, with the average grade for all students being a B. All students who applied to university were successful in gaining a place.
All our students achieved significant personal success that will pave the way for their futures, some of these brilliant performances include:
Jessica Lovatt who achieved A*s in maths, biology and chemistry and will be moving on to study at the Hull York Medical School, but first she is travelling to Uganda to do some voluntary work in a hospital.
Grace Perkins secured an A* in history and As in biology and psychology. The latter is her chosen course at Newcastle University.
Emily Lawson gained a Distinction in BTEC Sports Science and As in biology and geography and will be studying Sports and Exercise Science at Lancaster with an ambition to work as a physiotherapist in the future.
Robbie Sammut achieved A*s in maths and physics and a B in history and will be taking up an internship with local engineering company Epic Innovations.
Ava Usry gained an A* in sociology, an A in history and a C in psychology and will be taking a gap year before applying to university.
Dr Simon Henderson, Head of Sixth Form, commented: “We are, as ever, hugely proud of our sixth formers. Using external exam results as a unit of measurement tells us that our students are excellent, but we already know that because of who they are as people and the positive contribution they make to those around them. These results give them the passport to travel to the next stage of their life where they can continue to flourish and use their talents to enrich the lives of others. I wish them all the very best of luck.”
