Emily Tones

I am currently studying towards a BSc in Psychology at Newcastle University. Moving to halls at Newcastle has led to me meeting more great people, as well as getting involved with all that the city and the university have to offer. It took a bit of getting used to but living independently is such a rewarding experience, as well as studying a course I thoroughly enjoy.

I left Teesdale Sixth Form with a solid group of friends who helped make the summer holidays absolutely amazin. We continue to stay in touch even though we’re all off doing our own thing.

What has been the highlight of your life so far after leaving school?

While A level results day was nerve racking, realising I’d made it into my first choice university was definitely a highlight. It’s a big change after spending seven years at Teesdale but completely worth it.

What is your favourite Teesdale memory?

I only have good memories from my time at Teesdale. Annual sports days where I would graciously accept the role of photographer (thanks to Mr Bain for getting me out of the obstacle course), Year 11 prom and leavers day with everyone from my year, the sixth form balls held at The George and so many more.

A special shoutout to the catering staff who I had the pleasure of working with in my final year!

Advice to my younger self...

School definitely isn’t all bad. Seven years at Teesdale really flew by and gave me so many great memories. My advice would be enjoy it while it lasts!

You can invite one person to a dinner party - who do you invite and why?

After the painstaking research into my chosen actor in film studies, it would be rude not to invite Anthony Hopkins – I’m sure Mrs Bissicks and Miss Todd would come along too.
