GCSE Day 2024

GCSE celebrations!

This morning Year 11 students celebrated with staff and their parents/carers after receiving a superb set of GCSE results.

More than 80% of students achieved grade 4 or above in both English and Maths, with more than 60% of students achieving grade 5 or above in both of these core subjects. More than a quarter of all grades were 7 or above – the equivalent of an A in the former grading system.

These results are outstanding when measured against national and regional averages and affirm why our school is a first-choice secondary school in the area.

Our Year 11 students' achievements now provide them with the keys to unlock many different doors of opportunity for their futures and lay solid foundations for their adult lives.

We are proud of every single one of our students and we believe they have all achieved something great personally. Some standout academic performances included:

  • Charlotte Leonard who gained 8 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s.
  • Morris Turnbull who achieved 3 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s and a grade 7.
  • Alice Whiting who achieved 3 grade 9s, 1 grade 8 and 5 grade 7s.
  • Penny Williams who opened her envelope to 2 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s, 3 grade 7s and a grade 6.
  • Emma King who achieved 2 grade 9s, 4 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s.
  • Katy Pattison who received 1 grade 9, 4 grade 8s and 5 grade 7s.
  • Megan Hunt who secured 1 grade 9, 4 grade 8, a grade 7, a grade 6 and a grade 4.
  • Alfie Baitson who earned 1 grade 9, 1 grade 8, 2 grade 7s, 4 grade 6s and a grade 5.
  • Adam Frampton who gained 4 grade 8s, 3 grade 7s, a grade 6 and a grade 5.

Speaking of her delight at the results, Anna Cleckner, Head of School, commented:

"These results are truly fantastic and our students have worked so hard to get to this point. They deserve all the success and celebration that today brings.

These are also testament to the hard work of staff and the love and support they received from their parents and carers. This is a day for all members of the Teesdale community to recognise the inspirational young people who help to make it the special place that it is."
